I was asked not so long ago by my predecessor, how I felt I was going in my role as General Manager. I replied with the notion that I am a ‘fair-weather captain’, so I will find out when the weather gets rough….
I had no idea that this comment would put me in the throws of the worst storm I have experienced in my working career thus far. Working in the events industry, our business has declined to virtually zero almost overnight. When facing such adversity, the team and I maintain the vision and values of GFP more than ever, whilst remaining true to our own morals and ethics with the challenges we face.
We employ over 390 staff each year, something which I am extremely proud
of from a company perspective, and
now these staff, no longer have the opportunities we have previously
provided and face an uncertain future. The GFP family are these people, we
are all affected, our friends, our partners, our children and our parents; the current climate does not discriminate against
any of us.
As the captain, I am navigating these uncertain waters, with the support of my team as we endeavour to find ways to hold our heads high and work together within the GFP family and the wider community.
I want to personally thank you for your on-going support, and we look forward to working with each of you post COVID-19, when we will re-build our future together.
